About

Helping Broken Lives Become Whole

I use to think counseling was for the birds. I was brought up to believe 'keep a stiff upper lip', 'suck it up,' and, 'don't let them see you cry'. And counseling, well, it was for those truly disturbed people. I use to believe that. That is, until my life came crashing down. My marriage was on the rocks, my future looked dark and bleak, hope just seemed like a pithy platitude. I was in turmoil. And then, I sought out counseling, and wow, what a difference it made. I found new hope and a new perspective. I didn't have live in the dark pit of despair. Life truly could be better. As one who has always been wired to want to help people, my journey to becoming a professional counselor is a circuitous journey, beginning as a Big Brother volunteer to at risk teenagers to being a volunteer in a juvenile detention center to full time Christian ministry to a 26 year career in law enforcement that grew and morphed into a career in counseling. Along my way, I've met and worked with thousands of people in crisis, young, old and everywhere in between. And a common denominator I found, without exception, is everyone, at some time or another, finds themself in a dark place. That is why along my journey I've picked up some special tools, special tools such as training, and expertise helping individuals and families struggling with addictions such as porn and sex addiction, tools such as helping individuals with substance abuse, tools such as helping couples in crisis and betrayal, tools such as helping individuals overcome trauma, tools such as helping first responders and military personnel deal with the stress and trauma that come with a dangerous job, tools such as coping with anger and anxiety. Special tools and skills in addition to the everyday tools of counseling. Tools to help others, Whether it's struggling with addictive substances or addictive behaviors such as porn and sex addiction, or marital or relational conflict or betrayal, whether it's trauma or anxiety, whatever the struggle, don't be like me and wait until the wheels have fallen off to seek help. Everyone has something that plaques them which causes distress. So, why wait? Help is available. This Could be Your Day When Your Dark Place Can See the Light of Hope.
